Lancaster County Pa, home to many Amish families, and Grandy's favorite place, Rough and Tumble, a steam engine and tractor museum was the place of our most recent family excursion. The Fall Harvest Festival was this past weekend and we had such a fun time. First we took a ride on the little train, and then, once established that trains are not so scary, we took a ride on the big train. We watched the tractor pull, a very serious event, and Layla had some quality Grandy time. The weather was a bit chilly, but we all had a grand time. Oh, and we stopped by to visit with friends, an Amish family, to whom Grandy is sure we are related. We had a nice visit with them, their horses and chickens. When we arrived home later that evening, we got a call from Grandy, who received a call from the Stoltfus' via their payphone, saying that Jake had left his cell phone there. Now, if you leave your cell phone in the home of an Amish family and it rings, will they answer it??

Let's Go Fly a Kite!
Well, it was a bit of a blustery day here in Brookhaven this past Wednesday. Since Miss Layla has been asking to fly her kite everytime a leaf moves on a tree, to which I always answer, "Oh, I wish we could fly your kite today- we have to wait for a windy day when it is not raining," it was time. Wednesday was the day. We tried and tried and with some small successes we made it happen. Here are a few pics I snapped when I wasn't busy with the kite.
